On 19th April 2018, we brought our very own Latte Art Throwdown to Derby! There were lots of giggles and lots of coffee and it's made us super excited to make our next one even bigger and better. Watch this space.
Our baristas are super skilled when it comes to coffee and milk, and earlier this year we decided that we wanted to give them the opportunity to show off a bit whilst raising some money for charity at the same time.
This time we ran 3 rounds. In each one, we rolled our latte art dice, and the pattern it landed on would be the pattern that both competitors would have to pour. The vessel for round 1 was a 10oz latte cup, round 2 was a 6oz Flat White Cup, and round 3 was a surprise vessel in the form of a novelty mini wheelbarrow, just to make things difficult. (This was Cookie's idea. Goodness only knows where she gets these things from.)
Our judges were 3 ultimate coffee-heads (we don't mess about), and we donated every £5 entry fee to UK Coffee Week to support the work they're doing with Project Waterfall. Double win!
As far as we know, it was the first Latte Art Throwdown that Derby has seen, so we actually made history... Watch our video below to see how it went. Okay okay, I know it's a bit long, but I didn't want to leave any of the rounds out!
